The Kingdom Focused Church
The Good News of the Kingdom of God
A Kingdom Focused Church must be Gospel Driven (Romans 1:16 - For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.)
The Bible clearly teaches that God’s Kingdom is not of this world. That is to say, that it is not a fleshly Kingdom, but rather a spiritual Kingdom. The Jewish believers were confused and dismayed during the advent of Christ because they supposed that he would deliver them from the grips of the Rome’s earthly kingdom. Yet it was not Christ’s goal to establish a new physical reality for His church, but rather a new spiritual reality.
Man in his fallen condition was locked out of the spiritual reality of God’s Kingdom. It was to be a reality that was only realized by the revelation of Jesus Christ. It was this teaching moment that Christ embraced in Mat 16:13-19:
When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, "Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?" So they said, "Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven."
"And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. "And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed* in heaven."
While the other disciples repeated natural or earthly answers, Peter had a spiritual revelation of the deity of Christ that could only be spiritually discerned. This was the spiritual revelation upon which Christ would establish His Kingdom.
It was this revelation of Christ that would be the keys to the kingdom of heaven… the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As witnesses we have the keys to the kingdom. When we preach Christ, we are preaching the good news: that the lost now have access to the Father and the Kingdom where he reigns. Christ is the door… He is the way… no man cometh to the Father accept by Him.
As Disciples of Jesus Christ, we have the Keys to the Kingdom of God.
You and I as believers have the Keys to the Kingdom... the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As we share the revealed Christ with others through the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8), the lost are able to glimpse a spiritual revealation of the Lord Jesus Christ.
We are to preach the good news (gospel) of the Kingdom.
Mat 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
Mat 9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Mar 1:14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
Mar 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
